You can use the Windows charmap.exe and copy it to the area you want it or in MS Word (any version) go to add > symbol > other symbols. It will open up its own character map that you can add from the entire set.

Usually you don't. I am assuming you are running windows and in that case you can change the entire keyboard layout and since yen is the currency of Japan you probably don't want to change the keyboard to japanese. You can however access the yen symbol by going to the character map program via Start > Accessories > Character Map
