Well, a vampire's personality is just the same as it was when they were human, only they like drinking blood when they get hungry/thirsty.
A vampire's personality differs from everybody elses in the sense of what sense the vampire's personality is...
as in, it could be murderous, revengeful, sorrowful, hateful, keen, helpful, or may have no personality at all.
In many books, a vampire is usually a bitten human being that grows sharp vemon-filled fangs, the ability to get out of locked spaces, has no reflection, and has an intense desire for blood and/or flesh.
The science behind this all is that the "venom" in a vampires "canines" usually destroys and alters your physical appearance, along with your genetic structure (like in the book Dracula, when he drank blood, his features appeared more younger than he truly was).
Along the years, there have been many stereotypes about vampires, along with how they act, what they are, and their feelings. to go against the stereotypes(not that they aren't good), a vampire may still contain its own personality although the nervous system in its brain has been destroyed, the part that makes you You, and may relent this ability when it reaches an intense desire for the blood and flesh of another living organism (usually a mammal). However, in many movies, the vampire completely loses its ability for stability and will do anything at its own risk for flesh, even leaving behind the basic skilles that it has for survival.
In Twilight, however, the vampires grow feelings for human beings and long to be one of them. This can happen when they get bitten at a very "young" age, and are stuck through eternity as a vampire.
The Lichenthropes are the natural enemies of vampires; nothing can ever go against that. Strangely enough, when a vampire is formed, it is said that a lichenthrope is also so that the world isn't unprotected.
The myths about the Hallowe'en Creatures of the Night actually originated in Ancient Eygpt, when the legend about the Eye of Anubis was formed and brought (somehow) to the more complex unit of the Greek and Roman beliefs. Thus, these beliefs scattered over the Other side of Eurasia, and then continued to evolve to fit the American "Tradition".
Bella does not tell her friends she is a vampire because if she did the Volturi would kill them. The number one law/rule of being a vampire is keep the secret.
