release hood, look inside and you will see a round handle behind headlight and pull it towards steering wheel, this releases the light assembly so you can access the rear of it. Remember these are plastic assemblies so do not yank with all your might because you will break the assembly.
Remove the headlight assembly and you will have access to the parking light bulb.
Front of the car, built into the headlight assembly. It is the orange light nearest the tire.
There is a single screw above each front parking light assembly. You will need a 7mm socket to remove the screw. After the screw is removed, simply pull on the assembly from the back corner and pull straight forward.
In my 09 Sportage, this is called the position lamp and is located just below the main headlight bulb in the headlight assembly. You need to remove one bolt and a holding rod to pull the assembly in the 09's - other models seems to require the removal of some plastic rivets and a cover plate. Once you have the assembly out, unscrew the round read cover, move the headlight out of the way and use needle nose pliers to pull the position lamp receptacle up and out. Replace the bulb and reassemble.
To replace front parking light on a 1999 Ford Taurus, lift the hood and remove the bolt holding the parking light housing cover. Twist the parking light off and replace with a new one.
THERE IS NO PARKING LIGHT LENSE FOR THE REAR. IT'S ONLY THE TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY!
Remove the headlight assembly to gain access to the parking light socket/bulb.
93 Geo Prizm parking lamp replacementI just changed the front right parking lamp on my 93 Geo Prizm, assuming your 96 is similar, here is how to do it: Under the hood, at the top of the juncture of the front fender, parking light assembly, and headlight assembly, there is a flat headed Phillips screw (installed vertically); remove the screw, the parking light assembly should then be somewhat loose. (After this screw has been reomoved, the unit is then held in place by a small locator shaft/pin with a notched/bulb head that fits into a sleeve in the supporting structure. This pin is located in the lower front corner of the assembly and is aligned going straight back). The whole assembly can then be pulled forward and removed. It will take some force to remove and may take a little coaxing from the back. If you pry it, use a wood shim or similar to keep from damaging the unit or the fender. It will come out straight forward - do not pull at an angle. After removing the assembly, the bulb can be accesed from the back of the unit. Twist the socket to remove it from the back of the unit and replace the bulb.
