if you unscrew the top two bolts and the one holding the rubber hose connecting to the airfilter it will come right up. Of course you have to remove the 3 bolts holding the cross bar. As far as the spark plugs you can reach them from the top. If you stand on the passenger side you can reach back having limited visibility. I just did this last night. You kind of have to do it with feeling around but it is a better option then doing it from underneath.
First unbolt the two engine mounts at the front of your vehicle. Lift it out of the bracket and put the bolt back in. Use a come along on the bolt to pull your engine forward. You can safely do this. That gives you more access to the back 3 spark plugs. My spark plug wires were melted, and hard to pull off. I used a 90 degree needle nose to clamp on to the spark plug wire heat protectors, and used a breaker bar as leverage to remove them. Good luck.
