How do you get to the sparkplugs on a 2002 safari van?

I just changed the plugs, plug wires, rotor button, and distributor cap. Getting to the plugs takes a little patience. The best way to access the plugs is from the side using a long extension.

Plugs: Take off the tires and remove the rubber splash guard from the wheel well. This provides straight access to the forward plugs. The plugs near the cab (rear plugs) require a swivel socket to remove. If you change the wires and distributor cap you need to remove the console and engine cover from inside the van.

Console: Remove two torx screws from the upper sides (under a press fit dime sized cover) and two nuts on the bottom. Tug on the console to free the spring clips. Unplug the CD and 12V outlet wires. Remove the console.

Engine Cover: Remove the bolts that hold in the left and right lower brackets. Un-screw the two bolts holding in the top of the cover (note: these stay with the cover and do not fall out). Remove the ground wire (top side) and gently remove the cover (seats must be in far back position). Be careful it is a tight fit but does come out once you find the right angle. Note: the easy access to the distributor cap and plug wires makes it worth the effort...almost.

Its not too bad, but it does take patience. I recommend inserting the spark plugs with a short piece of rubber hose instead of the socket extension. Due to the angles, it is easy to cross thread the new plug.
