Recognize that you will have to crawl inside the trunk first. There is a cover of trunk lining material over each shock that lifts off and exposes the top of the shock
This will expose the two 19mm nuts securing the shock mount, BE SURE to change these in a shock replace, and the nut for the shock itself
To change the trunk shocks on a 1993 Lexus GS 300, first ensure the trunk is supported securely to avoid injury. Remove the old shocks by detaching them from their mounting points, which usually involves using a socket wrench or a flathead screwdriver to pop off the retaining clips. Position the new shocks in place and secure them by pushing the ends into the mounting points until they click into place. Finally, test the new shocks by opening and closing the trunk to ensure they function properly.
it levels the car when added weight in trunk or rear seats adds air to rear shocks to level car its off when key off or there is a switch in trunk or in the glove box
Trunk props,or prop rods. They are "gas struts"
Turns the airshocks on/off, the only time you need it is if you're putting the car up on the lift. If you do not turn them off before lifting, the rear shocks will compress and the car will appear to have blown rear shocks until you start it and the airpump kicks on.
In the trunk or passenger compartment

shocks/struts have nothing to do with how high the car rides.... you have bad springs, or too much junk in the trunk...
Open the trunk and turn the switch off that says air ride. Or the button might also b on the front passenger side kick panel.
the switch is inside the trunk on the left side
Yes all the 1990's have it. The manual cut off switch for it is located in the trunk right side by the hinge. There may be a sign for it. Paul navig8r77@hotmail.com
The shocks are a common replaceable part. They can be found or ordered at most any local auto parts or online dealer.
