Try Fn+F7 it usually works on mine!
There is a buton above your mouse that makes it move or not, try clicking it.
Have you tried pressing Fn+F7? This activates / deactivates the touchpad.
any mouse that is opticall can be used without a mouse pad with no problem. However, the ball mouses need the mouse pad for traction
laser mouse needed a light to move.
