The key to training a dog to do anything is repetition. If your dog is one of the few that doesn't bark when someone knocks, don't worry. You should be able to train him or her to do so in a short amount of time.
The first thing you need to do is train your dog to speak on command. A simple way of doing this is to restrain your dog, in a safe way, of course, and call his or her name. When they get frustrated because they can't get to you, they will bark. Once they bark, you need to immediately praise him or her and give a treat. Continue this until you can get the dog to speak without being constrained.
Then, use the speak command when someone knocks at the door. You may want to get someone to help you for this part. Every time the dog barks at the knock on the door, give praise by you and your helper.
Your dog will quickly learn to bark when someone knocks.
hit him everytime he does. You cant negotiate with him.
Because it is excited to see who is there :D
Hang the bell on the door and each time you go to the door to let out your dog, ring it. As soon as the dog shows any interest in the bell at all, reward with treats. After the dog begins to touch the bell withhold treats treats until he/she touches it hard enough to make noise. Be sure to take your dog out each time the bell rings so the association built is for bell=go out not noise=treats. Good luck!
The door bell contacts are stuck together or corroded or the wires to it are shorted together at some point up to the power supply and bell.
Leave a polite note or business card stating that you had visited and for what purpose.
I had a lot of dogs, ranging from a very tiny chihuahua to very large dogs, and my experience is: ALL dogs bark when they see something (a kid passing by, a pigeon landing on the roof) in order to warn their owners.
A couple years ago I successfully trained my cocker spaniel to use the bell system. Here's what I did: Attached the bell to a thin rope hanging from the door knob of the door to the backyard (where he pottied). I covered it with spray cheese out of a can (they can't resist it!) and let him lick it off. As soon as the bell starts to ring from his licking open the door and have a treat waiting for him (that you placed there before-hand). Praise him as he eats the treat. Do this over and over again using less and less cheese on the bell and smaller and smaller treats. Eventually do away with the treats and cheese all together. Finally, he will grasp the concept that once he rings the bell, he goes outside. Praise him whenever he rings the bell. Praise him when he potties outside and scold him when he goes inside. The only frustrating thing about the bell system is when he will ring the bell just when he wants to go play also! Either don't use the bell system, or put up with it! HOPE THIS HELPED!
German Shepherd are clever enough to open a door and ring a dinner bell when hungry... ... ... Why not.
it is like a door bell
use Bowser and burn the bark off with his flames.
Yes, the English Setters do bark alot especially when people knock on the door.
To make it the town tune!It plays your song whenever the town bell rings once every hour. If you listen closely it also plays when you open a door.
Well.. first off, does it bark all the time or just when someone rings the door bell? Sorry, I can't resist a typo. I believe you must remove the slack from the cable. Near the rear of the car, the cable joins to form a "Y". This is where there should be a threaded adjustment point. If there isn't enough adjustment left, you may have to replace the cable do to corrosion, wear, or stretching.
