U have to let it atleast let u put ur finger an inch from it but dont go fast ull freak it out it will fly wildly the first 10times then slide ur fing under the talens or claws and it should jump on ur finger.

for the talking you talk constantly and say the same word over and over slowly. they will talk quietly and quickly. Also make sure you have one parakeet and no toys with mirrors or just plain mirrors or it will spend all it's time talking in bird to its "buddy" and not to you. (they also like words with the sounds of "k" and "t" in then as they are much easier to pronounce for a bird. plain old hello is too hard.)

Take your bird in an empty room by YOURSELF and repeat the word that you want them to learn.Make it an easy word like ''HI'' or ''BYE''.Or you can teach your bird its name like that.I tought my bird all these tricks in 15 days.my bird has also bonded with me more.My bird can say ''see ya later'' when we put our jackets on and say hi and bye.And says its name.(it also responds to its name) :) my bird taught himself to say his name, cause when ever we saw him we just said his name

you just repeat the word/phrase over and over and over again, every day, pretty much all the time. it may take a couple of weeks for your parakeet to master saying the word. the key is just to repeat.

Well you have to talk softly to them at first, keep it simple. Say hi or hello simple words. This isn't going to happen overnight it takes time, it took me over 3 months to get my little parakeet to say "Hello how are you?" You have to do each word at a time. They will figure it out eventually.

It can take an hour to a few minutes. Simply say "step up" to your budgie. If that doesn't work, teach it to your budgie or scare the budgie onto your finger. If it stays calm and still there, it trusts you. Simply say "step down" for the budgie to leave your finger, teach it first if that doesn't work. Put your finger down to a hopping height if your budgie doesn't listen. Then it can leave your finger.

Keep talking to them daily for about 3 months and them you will start to hear them mumbling. That lets you know they are trying to talk. You can also leave the tv on when you leave

Do monk parakeets talk?

Any Parakeet can talk. You just have to train them. Talk around them alot like a parrot. males generally are more apt to speak than females. not all parakeets talk if youre referring to the broader category of 'keets which include budgies, quakers, rosellas, ringnecks etc. hand tamed birds are more likely to talk than parent raised.

Are budgerigars easy to teach to talk?

it depends, a male parakeet is more likely to talk than a female. Also, remember that not all parakeets can talk. Just have patience and a loving heart. See the Related Links for more information.

What can you teach your parakeet to do?

There are a few things you can teach them to do. I know you can teach them to talk (some never talk), you can teach them to ring a little bell on one of their bird toys, and sometimes you can get them to whistle. You can also possibly teach a parakeet to fly on to your finger, as this trick is most likely tough to teach. There are probably other things you can teach them too. I suggest you research for more info. Remember to only teach them one trick at a time, more than one (being worked on for a while), can confuse your parakeet.

Can parakeet talk?

Yes, if you are willing to patiently TEACH them. Parakeets mimic the sounds they hear around them, some more than others. Some parakeets can learn as many as 1700 words in any language. Trying to teach a parakeet to speak requires patience. It does no good to yell at a bird because it does not actually understand any language - they are only repeating the sounds that they hear.

How do parakeets comunicate?

Parakeets communicate by chirping and making noises. Some parakeets can talk but not most of them.

Why does your parakeets move its mouth when you talk to it?

He's trying to talk to you but doesn't yet know how or what to say. Also could be fear (panting).
