Time and effort, my friend, with a little patience and love, oh, and gentle persuasion. Explain your views to them and why you are agnostic. They may not agree with your views, but over time they will respect you and your reasoning.

∙ 15y agoThis is a secret most parents don't tell their kids. A secret kids never suspect. We can talk and listen to you like any other human on the planet.
Just tell them - don't be a drama queen though. At the church door on the day of your niece's baptism would be a bad time. Same thing for telling them in the middle of ascreaming fight over some other issue (Example: I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I'm becoming an agnostic.)
Enlist the aid of an adult to chair a meeting with you and them if you're afraid of a violent (emotional not physical) response. Face facts, you or they know someone that you both like and respect that is non-religious.
A caution though - get your reasons in a row before you talk. Do you know why you think this way? Can you present your reasons in a clear and concise manner? Are you going to break down and cry if they get upset?

I can understand an agnostic position, but it seems to me that to be an atheist requires just as much faith as a belief in God. Agnostic is an adjective and a state of mind so it would be used to describe someone. I was going to church thinking about god then i realized that i was agnostic. Another example of using agnostic in a sentence is, "How can you use agnostic in a sentence?" Technically, you already used agnostic in a sentence. Oops, I did it too!
Can you state yourself to be agnostic on a registration form?
Of course, why not. But are you sure that you are an agnostic? For example most deeply religious observant catholics would consider themselves agnostic. Indeed, being an agnostic is an important aspect of being a devout Christian or Jew. So by stating that you are "agnostic" is not saying much.
