First, you must be very talented. But talent only takes you half of the way. You can't just expect to get discovered. If you want a record deal, you must work very, very hard and believe in yourself. First try singing anywhere you can. Festivals and fairs are very good, you can also try singing in restaraunts or Karaoke. If you want a challenge, you can sing the national anthem at parades, runs, or sports games. If you don't have any experience singing for an audience, record labels will be reluctant to sign you. Also, you will go much farther if you know how to play an instrument- the more, the better. Start with the guitar or piano, but you will probably eventually have to learn to play the guitar- it is just an essential instrument most singing stars learn how to play. Once you know how to play an instrument, if you have the ability, try writing songs. Perform these songs the places you sing. If you don't have the ability, that's okay- that's where our next step comes in: make a demo CD. Making one is very simple. You can record one in a professional studio or at home with a special recorder device. You can use your own songs or covers. Once you have this, give it to any record labels that you want to sign you. If they are impressed, they will give you a record deal. Make sure your demo is good quality- they won't listen to it if it isn't, plus it will damage your reputation. No demo CD is better than a CD of poor quality, because it will close some doors for you. You can search more about demo CD's online.
if ur really good at writing songs and that's ur dream read this to become a songwriter you need to know ur verse and ur corous you need to stay in one topic for ur whole song otherwise it would sound weard anyways keep writing songs in ur song book and if ur over 14 u can become a songwriter u just need to ask any studio if they like ur song and then u have a dream come true ur welcome and bye !!!!!!!
If you can get a demo recorded, or if you already have one, make as many copies as you possibly can and give them out as a promo at a gig. It doesn't matter if it's a small or a big gig, every demo counts, so write new material and get them recorded as soon as they are finished and polished up, then go play and have some fun at some gigs and give them out. Hopefully the right person will notice it, and if there's no success so far, keep on trying, you'll get there someday if you dedicate.
First, write a song. Then, take out all of the errors. Make sure you like your song and add music and stuff. Then, Send it to a record company. Or send it to a show like Oprah or something. Ha ha! Have fun writing music!
Learn the craft, move to one of the songwriting hubs (New York, L.A., Nashville). Pick 3 of your best songs and record a demo. Buy the "songwriters market" book and use it's comprehensive list of publishing companies, songwriting agencies, record labels etc. and then send in your songs.....Wait for the job offers to role in :)
Writing a song for payment requires you to be commissioned to write it. Like a painting or a computer program, the person has to tell you what they want. You then write it for them. There is also freelance writing in which you just write songs and a publisher, with which you have an agreement or arrangement, promotes your efforts for a fee, usually 10%.
By writing really excellent songs and sending them to hundreds of publishing companies. Get ready to hear a thousand 'no's' for every 'yes'.
