The loan agency can't take his name off of the title. The DMV can. The agency COULD take his name off of the loan, but they WON'T. They want to be able to collect from him if you don't make the payments.

The home is simply collateral for the loan. Regardless of what happens to the vesting of the property (legal ownership) you are still liable for the loan. If a court awarded the home to a spouse, the loan should have been refinanced into their name. If that did not occur your liability for the loan has not changed.

Tell them you did not. Ask them what name the loan was made under, and if it's not your name, say so. If it IS your name, either you did and FORGOT, or you've been a victim of fraud. Sorry, if the latter, but I still hope I helped.
