Select the cells before you sort them and include any cells related to the ones that are being sorted on. So if you were sorting a list of names and for each name there was other details on the same row then you need to select not just the names, but all of the cells with the data. Then when you sort, each row will move with the first cell as it is sorted.

Highlight the cells you want to sort and click on the sort button.
The sort button is on the Home tab. I am not aware of a group button in Excel.

I've noticed that excel can remember that sort order if the first row of the second group you want to sort equals the first row of the first group you had already sorted. How to change it? I don´t know. No official answer, sorry

Copy the formulas and in the column next to them, use the Paste Special option and choose values. It will put the actual values into the cells. You can then sort your data based on the column of values.
Select the columns as normal and use the sort icon, or command on the Data menu to sort them. If you have more than one column selected, the column in which the active cell is will be used to sort. If you want to sort on a number of combinations, like surname and then firstname, that can be done through the data menu. Blank cells will be sorted to the end and the rest of the data will be sorted as usual.
Highlight the cell range you want to sort and click on the sort button. For Excel 2007, it is on the Home menu ribbon in the Editing section (on the right side of the ribbon).
The Sort & Filter button is in the Editing group on the Home Tab.
