This totally depends on how many horses and how much land you have.
The thing to remember is that if you want your horses to be able to graze you will have to rotate whatever land you are using for pasture. This means you'll need to remove the horse from the grass for a portion of the day and either put them in a stall or a pen with free access to hay while not pastured.
Also manure build-up is going to be a problem and you may need to pay to have it hauled off in a dumpster to prevent it becoming a nuisance.
Other problems can include lack of a place to ride, higher rates of parasite infection, a greater ability to spread contagious diseases, and possible conflict between horses causing property damage.
To prevent all of the above you must maintain the property as best as possible and provide timely and good veterinarian care.

It depends. If you are experienced with horses and know you can handle them, then age doesn't quite matter. You also have to be strong and work well with horses.

If they are your horses and its your property why not? I think even if there was gambling between people watching it would be fine :)
