You don't want the puppies to be completely off of the mamas milk till about 7 weeks, however at this time you can try giving her no food and water for one day, she may whine but it won't be the end of the world. Then feed her half portions for the next three days, by the end of it she should be pretty dried up. However, do NOT wean the puppies too early. You want to start at about 4 weeks and finish closer to 7 weeks
