Large positive cable to the canter post on solenoid, if you have one wire left it goes to the small terminal nearest the engine. If you have two wires left, the wire that goes to the coil + connects to the teminal on the solenoid marked R and the other wire goes to the remaining small terminal.
You can hook up the starter, on your 1984 Chevrolet, by attaching the ground cable and the hot cable to the appropriate posts on the starter. Bolt the starter into place.

If you can get to the starter, you hook up one side of the switch to the terminal that goes to the battery and the other side of the switch to the small terminal marked with and "S". "S" is for starter. The other small terminal you leave alone. Applying power to this terminal will damage the starter.
First take the positive battery cable off, then remove the wires that hook to the starter and remember were thay go. Then remove the 2 bolts that hold the starter to the block. Then install new starter and hook every thing back up. No big deal.
