look at the vin number at the bottom corner of the windhield on the driver's side. you might have to search for it but that vin will tell you whether it was an ss or not . Here is the real deal, to be real, it would have to be ALL, real. This would mean a numbers matching motor. The original. So, the serial number on the m otor, would have to match the vin. If it does not, then it could really be a SS, however, without the proper motor, it really isn't, as it has a different motor. Check all of the other tell tale signs. The SS had a totally different dash, with a round tack, speedo, and gauges. Not the sweep type, with the idiot lights. Also, notice which tach it has. The factory red line, tells the tale. 5000rpms, to 5500, would be the lower performance motors. 5800, to 7000, would be higher performance. If the car has a 6500rpm redline, it would not have air conditioning, for example. To rev that high, that motor would have solid lifters. Solid lifters eliminated air, because the standard compressor, only reved 5000rpm's. Depending on which plant the car was built at, the original build sheet would be under the rear seat, or under the bottom seat cushion, on the pass., side front. All the SS's had front disc brakes, bucket seats, and a floor shifter.
1971 Chevy chevelle SS
Generally, yes. However, it does depend on what the car was originally. Was it a six cylinder car? Did it have a rare engine/transmission combo? Was the car original before it was cloned? There ARE circumstances where an original non-SS Chevelle could be worth more original than it would be worth as an SS clone.
the chevelle
the chevelle ss 396 was the correct name and chevelle Malibu was a separate model of the chevelle.
Chevelle Super Sport
depending on the year of the car, Chevrolet had developed cars that had the same body style, but with different names. for example, in 1968 Chevrolet had built the chevelle.and this body style had several different variants, one would be a Malibu, then a chevelle Malibu, a chevelle, and a chevelle super sport. so a chevelle clone would be just taking a car with one body style, and converting it to a different variant that had the same body stylr. it would be like taking a chevelle-Malibu abd converting it to a chevelle ss.
hey can you tanslate? im not sure what this says...
The Chevelle in the movie "Faster" is a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS.
I could only find one 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS on sale at eBay. The owner has a starting price bid on it for $35,000. However I'm not sure if that's the ACTUAL retail value.
If I recall, that year, the SS emblem on the rear of that car, comes via a black rubber insert, on the pass side of the car, which bolts to the bumper.
