* Use a Word-Of-The-Day game or calendar where you learn a new word every day.
* Use your new words as often as possible; work them into your conversation; look for them in the newspaper or a magazine.
* READ! The best way to improve vocabulary is to practice, and reading is excellent practice. Read books, newspapers, magazines ... anything!
* Talk. Using vocabulary also increases by speaking the language. If you are a new English speaker, you need to practice the language. If you are a native speaker, you still need to speak in order to improve.
* Listen. Pay attention to what other people are saying. Listen to the television or radio and learn how people communicate.
* Use your dictionary to look up more new words.
* Look up words that you don't know, and print out the definition and study it.
* Read, read and then read.
* Get one of those cheap calendars with a new and unique word on it every day. It sounds stupid, but if you try to use that word a lot during the day you'll remember it.
Practice, practice, practice. When you learn a language you start out by linking your first language ( L1) to your second language (L2). An example of this would be you think the word "apple" in your L1, then you think it in your (L2). Often you, when you first learn a language you will then think it again in your L1. This goes on for some time until one day you think apple just in your L2 without the connection of the L1. Using a language is the way to learn one. Living it, so instead of your watching TV in your L1 start to spend more time watching it in your L2. TV is one of the best teachers of learning a new language becauase you have words/pictures together. Tell your family you want to use the L2 more at home instead of the L1. Many second language learners speak the new language 6-8 hours a day at school or work, but at home they use their native language. This is natural, but the more you use, hear, think, and write in your L2 the faster you will learn it. Pretty soon you will have command of your new language. By-the-way none of this happens overnight. It takes an average of 4-5 years to really take command of your L2.
Two excellent ways are to talk with English-speakers and to read books written in English. Read newspapers daily. And listen to Audiobooks. In no time, your vocab will skyrocket!

Increasing your vocabulary means learning and understanding new words and their meanings. This can help you communicate more effectively, improve your writing skills, and enhance your overall comprehension of language. It also allows you to express yourself more precisely and clearly in various contexts.
Both structure and vocabulary are important for language learners, but vocabulary may be more crucial for basic communication. Without vocabulary, learners may struggle to express themselves, while structure is needed for proper grammar and clarity of communication. Striking a balance between the two is ideal for effective language learning.
A sudden increase in an infant's vocabulary, especially in the number on nouns, that begins at about 18 months age.
when reading a book, and you have a problem with a word, keep a little dictionary handy to look it up, this will also help to understand the story better, and increase your vocabulary at the same time, you will find it a little difficult at first but you will get used to it in no time, then, voila, you will have a great vocabulary!!
I think the easiest way to increase one's vocabulary is to read. If you read increasingly difficult books and look up all the words you don't understand, you will not only have the definition of the word, but you will also have the context in which the word was used. Together, these two will help you remember the word and how to use it in the future. Good luck.
