Jack up the body just in front of the rear wheels (or use a lift). Remove rear wheels so there is room to bring the springs in through the wheel wells. Disconnect the shocks at the bottom. Be sure the brake lines do not stretch too far. You may need to disconnect some clips to give the brake lines more length.
Reach in where the tops of the shocks are and pull out the metal clip that holds the air bag. Romove all the wires and hoses from the old air bags. I just cut some, because you don't need them anymore. I had to put a small jack between the axle and body to make enough room for the new springs.
My conversion kit came with very good directions. There is a wire to cut on the module to turn off the "Check air suspension" light on the dash, but I don't remember which one.
If you are going to change the shocks, it is best to do it now, because you have to do all the same steps.
You can troubleshoot the rear air suspension of your 1990 Lincoln Town Car with a diagnostic tester. Most Lincoln dealerships have diagnostic testers.

If your navigator has air suspension then the switch located in the rear driver side panel where the air suspension switch is...it is right below the suspension switch. hope that helps.

I was looking at one of Fords websites and for a 2000 Lincoln LS REAR suspension , as far as I can tell from the drawings , there are ball joints on the top on what they call the " trailing arms "

The air bag rear suspension on your vehicle has failed. This is an expensive repair.
Check the air bag suspension. Also, the pump may be bad.
Either one of your rear air bags have a leak or both have went bad.
