You need an aftermarket tach adaptor autometer makes a good one
there is no accesory switch wire on the 02 malibu.....you must run your accessory wire from your aftermarket radio to the thick brown wire coming out of the ignition to the left of the radio bay and put a fuse in the wire close to where you tapped into the brown wire on the wire from your radio also your door chimes will work again
go to wall mart buy a after market harness and a wire crimp set remove old radio conect new harness to existing old one and crimp all the same color wires from the new harnes to the new radio its easy
Ignore this garbage about power locks and air bags malfunctioning that shops give you about installing an aftermarket radio. The only thing that happens when you install an aftermarket radio on 3rd generation Cavaliers is you lose the chime when the lights are on, door ajar, key in ignition. Air bags are controlled by their own module, not the radio or even the BCM.
you have to remove the pastic face plate that surrounds the radio unit, (few screws) once done remove the face plate, and should have 2 bolts holding the radio in undo those and pull out radio then disconnect wires accrodingly
I have same problem.
On my wife's 2000 grand prix - the radio also functions as part of the 'oil change indicator' system. You do some sequence with the radio buttons - and the indicator resets. I dont think you can add an aftermarket radio -- but I did add an ipod adapter and a CD changer in the trunk. (It was pre-wired for it)
It is you gas tank; empty all gas out, then drop tank.
yes. 2000-2002 it was the same model...
if you are going to buy aftermarket speakers for you car i suggest you buy a sterio to go with it because the standard radio only pushes out so much wattage which means it only goes so loud. If you want to improve the sound in your car you would need to buy a radio to go with the speakers.
check your fuses i believe they are on both sides of the dash and under the hood. if it is an aftermarket radio check to see if you are getting accessory power
fuse 14 under the dash, unfortunaltely also kills radio
