Left of steering column... under dash... Yes.
Unplug the wiring harness from the steering column. Remove the cover plate under the column. Remove shift linkage. Remove two bolts under the dash that hold the column up. Remove the two nuts that connect the column to the steering knuckle. Slide it out.
Of course...
The 1977 Ford f150 uses a steering column mounted switch. It should be on the side of the column under the dash.
Its under the dash to the left of the steering column.
Any 1977-85 Impala or 1977-90 Caprice will work
A 77 has a 1 year only steering column, it's has the old style dash but the newer style tilt column and it's the only year with a column mounted wiper switch. Withoud modifications only 77 columns fit
You can possibly make it work, but it won't exactly fit. Length and wiring harness will both likely be different. Now, a '73-'77 steering column for ANY GM A body WILL work.
