first unhook the battery cables and then take the alternator belt loose and then take the 3 bolts out that hold the alternator on and take the wiring harness out of the alternator and the red battery cable off and it's out.
you don't have to but it's a good idea as a tranny from a V8 is stronger.

figure a 2.76 ratio.
the 727 should bolt up to the 340. A 727 transmission from a slant 6 will not bolt up to a 340. Find one off of a 273,318, 340 or 360.
Assuming this is a Dodge/Plymouth 225 ci. engine no, it only fits one way.
the fusible link on that vehicle is the porcelain ballast resistor on the firewall
