The two most common types of external zip drives are USB (little square plug about he width of your thumb) and parallel (wider square plug, about three fingers wide)... I will do my best to explain how to install either
USB: Put in the CD & run the driver install utility BEFORE plugging the drive in. If you don't have the CD, you can download them at iomega's website... see link below.
Once the software is installed, simply plug the drive into any USB port on your computer. It should auto-detect, install & then show up as a drive letter under "my computer"
Note: If you are running XP or vista, you shouldn't have to download any drivers at all, they are supported natively by the OS
Parallel. Just the opposite. Plug the drive in first, and THEN install the drivers. Some new systems do not come with a parallel port, don't worry, you can get a parallel to USB converter for $20 to $40 at any nearby electronics store.
Additionally, if you have a parallel port, have done just as i said above & the drive is not detected, the parallel port on your system may be disabled. Consult your computer or motherboard manual on how to enter BIOS and enable it.
I should conclude by saying that there are firewire, SCSI, serial (and probably SATA) zip drives out there. They are not as common, but if you have one of these, you might start a new question & make a note of what type the drive is.
you have to buy an external drive to attach to your PC in order to install the game.
When selecting the drive you wish to install the OS on, simply select the external HDD.
A computer external hard drive is a storage device that is connected externally to a computer. It is possible to learn how to install a computer external hard drive though websites such as eHow, or by attending an appropriate college course.
to install the game, you would need to buy an external disk drive so you can run it.
You cannot do that. You can install the program itself on an external drive by it should be connected all the time if you want to use virus guard. If you have a virus guard which you trust on your PC you don't need to have it all your external drives. When you have connected an external drive run full scan on it.
yes, it is easy to install external cd drives such as the LG 8x External USB 2.0 Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Drive.
personally i'd say buy an external hard drive, as it will be much easier
if it is an external SATA drive then yes, otherwise it is not suggested and rarely works.
get a external CD drive best buy
you have to install win xp via a usb or by using an external CD drive.
As strange as it may seem, you write to a zip disk using a zip drive...Zip drives are pretty much out of favor now, everyone is using DVD's, flash drives and external hard drives. But if you need to read an old zip disk, see if you can find an old I-Omega zip drive. I would offer to sell you mine but it's long gone.
Some motherboards support boot from external USB drive amd/or eSATA. You need to check BIOS settings (the external drive should connected) to make sure that your computer is capable to do so. It the motherboard is capable then you can install operating system on the external drive (if it's an usb drive be ready for low performance).
