you have to have the car off the ground and look underneath it and you will see body mounts on the frame, there are approx. 8 to 10 mounts that hold the body to the frame.
Well brackets on rear frame members under the bed for support, cut parts of the radiator shroud to install new mounts to lower it since the body is going higher and the engine is staying in the same place.

No, but the mounts themselves are different, and the 1979 may have an extra pair of mounts for the cab.
If they are the same body style (forget the dates of production), then yes. If they are different body styles, then no.
