Greeting Workshop and other programs you might be having trouble installing on Vista, will install. Simply turn off UAC (User Account Control). As to whether the program will successfully run is yet another question...still looking for the definitive answer...keep you posted. You can run Greetings Workshop (at least my old version) in Windows XP or Windows Vista Basic if you run Windows XP or Windows Vista Basic as Virtual PC sessions with the proper settings. Virtual PC lets me "dial in" the memory available to the OS. For Windows XP:
set memory size to 786mb or less works, set to 787mb or greater does not work. For Windows Vista Basic:
set memory size to 903mb or less works, set to 904mb or greater does not work. You do not need to use any compatibility settings with Greetings Workshop... just control the amount of memory available to the OS. I have no idea why this works, but this does explain issues like "I upgraded my Windows XP computer and now Greetings Workshop no longer runs". Best of luck... I have no idea why this fixes the problem, but am happy to say that I now have a new solution to an old problem.

You have Greetings Workshop? I have the 98 version! ^-^ I absolutely adore it! It is so easy to make things and I just made a couple of things 2 days ago. Anyways, yes it does! Did you try to install it in compatibility mode & run the program in compatibility mode as well?
It should - it does on my system and I have an old version software and a newer Dell PC. Good luck! You can not install IE6 on Windows Vista.
Try right clicking on the file and selecting the compatibility tab. Change the compatibility setting to match your old operating system. If this does not work, check the software's website to see if they have made a Vista-ready version. If neither of these work, then you may be stuck. The software might not be compatible with Vista. You can try to downgrade back to XP or whatever you've had before, but you should only do that if this software is necesary and it is your last resort.

I have MGI Photo Program on dicks, I had it on Windows XP. I Tried to install on my laptop, It has Windows Vista. Why won't it install on Vista
I also have Greetings Workshop 1996...I successfully installed it into my new laptop with Windows 7 and get the same error message...I tried searching Microsoft.com downloads for answers and got none...I have no clue how to set memory on the Windows 7 and would not want to decrease my memory just for one program...Has anyone found a down loadable update for Greetings Workshop??? Seems changing the memory would not be the best way in the long run...
