First, download the map (Skyland).
Open up Documents, My Computer, or something similar.
type %appdata% in the long bar at the top.
Find and open .minecraft.
You should see a folder called Saves.
Add your world in there.
Version 2.
Open up Minecraft.
Go to Mods and Texture Packs.
Click on Open Texture Pack Folder.
Go up one folder.
You should see a folder called Saves.
Add your world in there.

For Maps, hold down the Option key the same time you click on the Go menu in the upper Finder bar (click on an empty part of the desktop) and click on Libray then click on Application Support/ minecraft/ saves
The long way is Users/ yourname/ Library/ Application Support/ minecraft/ saves
For texture packs put them in the resource packfolder.
Don't forget you can make an Alias of the minecraft/ folder and put it in the main Minecraft game folder with the rest of your misc items so you don't have to keep going back and forth.
Go to profile on minecraft.net and drag the skin you want into the upload your skin box.

To install MCEdito on your Minecraft Mac OSX you have to download the program from the appropriate website and then follow the instructions on your screen.

You should use forge.
"MCPatcher" is one that will install some of them. There is no one installer that will install all of them whether they be for Windows or Mac.

First Make sure you closed minecraft COMPLETELY then install the skin (re install) It should work correctly if not you don't have a premium account
any will load mods onto minecraft but the better operating system the more mods you can have
