Providing that you have a stock Vehicle ignition system, we just put a tach on our 90 350 and there are two plugs on the coil, a single wire comes from the fire wall, the other has two wires and comes from the dist, out of that plug there is a short wire pig tail that is just hanging there and it has a protected male terminal on the end of it , plug your applicable tach sensor into that connection and follow the tach install instructions to hook up your lighting and ignition wires. Most new tachs come with installation instructions. Happy Reving
To properly install a new tachometer in a 1994 Integra LS the unit must be correctly mounted. Part of the mounting process is correctly splicing the wiring into the old harness so the RPM can properly read the information.

There are 3 (maybe4) wires on your tachometer. One +, one - and one gives the signal to the rpm. You must connect this third wire to the ECM (ECU) rpm outlet (White wire) or directly to the ignition coils negative wire (blue - yellow)
If there is a fourth wire on the rpm, that is the backlight. Connect it to the dashboards backlight system.
Good luck.
Have a look at this, it will help you a lot!! its a PDF file but tells you everything:

if you look at your dist. towards the front of the dist the is a little square box. on the right it says batt and the left it says TACH. get a connector and wire it up.
To install a tachometer in a '87 Monte Carlo SS, run the tachometer wiring around or through the dash board. Next, connect the tachometer's black wire to the battery ground of the vehicle.
