The door latch and rods should already be in place BEFORE mounting the window and lock guts into the door. If the latch is secured correctly, and the rods in the proper position, connecting them to the door guts is common sense business.
The latch assembly and cable is one piece.
The Ford dealership sells the cables and also a cable/latch assemble for your van. The assembly is easier to install unless you are a really good and patient mechanic. My dealer printed a schematic out for me that really helped.
* Remove the trunk lid latch * Detach the lock release box from the latch assembly * To detach the lock cylinder from the trunk lid pry off the retainer
Unfortunally you can't replace just the cables. They come with the latch assembly and there is a left and right.

No the 2001 Chevy Tahoe is not equipped with the LATCH system for car seats. The LATCH system did not become standard in Chevy Tahoes until the 2002 models.
