In my opinion, this is a repair best left to an expert. You auto insurance should cover the cost of replacing the windshield if you have more than just liability insurance. If not, I would still pay an expert to do this, to make sure it is done correctly. Break the windshield while installing it and you will wish you had hired it done.
Broken windshield is covered by almost all insurance policies. Take it to a professional. This is not a DIY job.
