it is a good idea to take the resident rat out of its cage/tank/area so that it does not want to defend its territorrie, put them both a little way from each other, and make sure they see each other before you put them down, if the fight, take them both away from each other, but be careful because when rats are angry their bites hurt! hope that helps :)

Would a big dumbo rat hurt a little dumbo rat?

Dumbo rats are not bigger rats, they simply have sticky out ears that are lower on their head. It is never a good idea to put a new rat in with an older rat that you've had for a while. You need to introduce "stranger" rats gradually. As a rule male rats are easier to introduce and integrate when they are younger. Whereas females are easier to do so when older. You will find that one of your rats will be the dominant, and it's usual for them to fight a bit in order to get that position. There are some great tips online if you need help with introducing a new rat to one you have already.

When you introduce a new rat to your old rat do they get along right away?

When introducing a new rat to an existing rat, they typically do not get along right away. Rats are territorial animals, and it often takes time for them to acclimate to each other. It's important to conduct introductions gradually and in neutral territory to minimize aggression. With patience and proper socialization, many rats can eventually bond and coexist peacefully.

What is the best way to introduce a new cat to a household where the resident cat may feel threatened and chased by the new arrival?

The best way to introduce a new cat to a household where the resident cat may feel threatened is to gradually introduce them by keeping them in separate rooms at first, allowing them to smell each other's scents before any direct contact. Slowly allow supervised interactions and provide plenty of resources like food, water, and litter boxes to prevent competition. Patience and positive reinforcement are key to helping the cats adjust to each other.

How do you introduce a new rat to a current rat?

Now, this is what I did. It was quite unsuccessful once I got home, though. I brought a cat carrier (what you would bring a cat to the vet or other place in) with my rat inside of it and I explained to the pet store my situation. I did not know how my rat would react to a new rat, so they let me test drive a rat inside the cat carrier with my rat. They got along pretty well inside the pet carrier. My rat sniffed out the new rat and babied her, basically. ( I had to get a toddler -- in between a baby and an adult, because they mixed them all together and I needed to get a female since I had a female to begin with (no babies.) )Once I got home, I placed both rats back into their cage which is a pretty big four story cage, and the new rat started to climb the walls, and my old rat decided to take her down and try to snap her neck. In essence, I had a bad experience, but maybe the cat carrier idea would work for you.

How can you play with your pet rat?

It's very easy to play with your pet rat. You can just carry him around or try to teach him tricks. You can also hold them for a little while or give them little treats. You can put a treat next to him and when he gets near it move it away. Continue doing it for a minute then finally give it to him. I do this with my rat all the time and he loves it. I call it the treat game. You can introduce new toys to your rat and tease him with it. He will have alot of fun with that. You can make up your own games too. No matter what you do with your rat, always try new games so he doesn't get bored.

You got a new rat a couple of days ago how do you introduce it to a new rat?
