The answer is yes because once blocked by something where else does the root have to go but everywhere! So yes, roots grow in random directions when blocked.
Not all maple tress have roots growing above the soil. The roots of the Silver Maple Tree grow above the ground and often ravage things when planted in a home garden as they have very strong roots. the Norway Maple tree however, has roots growing just below the ground surface. Yes they do spread out in search of water and minerals
they spread out and cover a large surface area which helps the roots take in water from the soil more quickly.
OMG it does affect it as the rice is not hard enough to let the roots spread through lol jokes i don't know please answer it for me!
