First: if your hamster's wound isn't bleeding anymore? Don't wash it, unless it looks infected, wound should look fresh and no specks of dirt or ya know food or something stuck to the wound, and If your hamster is okay with u picking him/her up, gently and very slowly calmly pick it up, and take a Q-tip, and see if it will let u gently (very softly) stroke it over the wound, if it does? Take some polysporin and using other end of Qtip, touch the tip to the tube of polysporin (u don't need a dab' just a tiny dot, size of "a grain of sugar or salt" now take that Qtip and gently stroke it over the wound, starting about 2-3 mm away from the actual wound, and just glide it slowly over the wound, if your hamster doesn't react, then stroke it over again!
Now put him-her back down! He/she will likely GROOM themselves right away, and it's their own grooming that helps RUB IT IN, and yes they may lick it, such small amount is ok! Make sure to use OINTMENT TYPE, not cream! Ointment type will help moisturize it and help skin from becoming dry due to over grooming of the area (hamsters have tendency to groom groom groom their wounds and this can lead to dry skin! Making it take longer to heal!
Do the poly for 2 days (1x per day) and after that it should help the healing start
Also using poly helps to mildly numb the spot so they won't feel as much discomfort!
Just remember after they lick and groom there is no need to reapply! It will heal! Give it time! About 1-2 weeks
no, this does not mean that your hamster will die soon. However, if you have a dwarf hamster, the life expectancy is only about 11/2 - 2 years. A regular hamster lives about five years. But if you are bitten, you should watch out for sign of a flu-like disease or an infection in or on the bitten are. Many hamsters carry diseases that can be easily transferred to human so always keep bites clean and wash your hands immediately after holding your hamster.
yes
If he bites you.
If a rabbi's hamster bites you, the most you could do is attempt to sue for damages, you certainly could not have him shot!
Seriously. If your hamster bite you on the finger it probably thinks that is food so if he does bite you just wash your hands and put achohal or first aid cream. Do something to clean it up
if it is a wild hamster it you could have a teeny tiny chance of getting a diesase. but, since there are aren't that many wild hamsters around and I'm guessing you probally have a pethamster then don't sweat it. you will not get a diesase, just clean it off and put a bandaid on it if you have to. hamster bites can happen often when you are still training the little guy, so don't worry.
anything your hamster has. if it has rabies, see a doctor immediately.
a hamster will only bite if you provoke it
If you have a short haired hamster like a Syrian then it cleans itself. If your hamster is long haired then you have to brush it depending on the length and thickness of its hair. Never bathe your hamster, they hate water and lick themselves to keep clean anyway.
on a hamster?or on you?................ well on a hamster you cant do much because they are so little,on a HUMAN well just keep ice on it and apply neosporin to the cut (this is for the HUMAN not hamster!)
nothing
It's possible, but most likely no. If your other hamster died, then play with it, and keep it happy and not lonely. Or you can clean out the cage, and then buy another hamster for her/him to play with. Then she will be happy, and the other one she would forget about. It's possible, but most likely no.
