Why good environmental practices and ethical standards in decision making may be to the advantage of a business?

Businesses with good environmental practices and ethical standards in decision making can have a real marketing and promotonal advantage. Consumers are becoming more aware of environmental issues and growing numbers of them ( customer ) will support businesses that adopt green policies. The success of the Body Shop worldwide has been built on producing products that do not harm animals in testing or the wider environment through production methods. Businesses with low pollution production avoid very bad publicity and heavy fines. With ethical standards they ( businesses ) make their employees want to stay reducing labour turnover as well as attacting high skilled workers, therefore increasing productivity. Academic writing standards typically discourage the use of first and second person pronouns because they can make writing less formal and objective. Using third person can help maintain a more professional tone and avoid inserting personal opinions or experiences into the writing. This helps to keep the focus on the information being presented rather than on the writer themselves.

Do you believe whistle-blowing is good for organizations?

I would no think of it in terms of good or bad for an organization as much as it may be a necessity to keep organizations in check. Whistle blowing relates to wrongdoing, injustice, and possible corruption. If the organization is holding to the highest ethical standards, there would be no reason for whistle blowing. Unfortunately this is not so for many organizations. Much relates to the commitment of senior leadership to promote doing what is right, good, and proper. Thus, they should be 100% committed to the development of ethical standards which are standards of conduct on how employees should behave based on moral duties, virtue's, and value systems that themselves are derived from principles of right and wrong. If whistle blowing is a means toward a positive end, then in the long run, we might want to consider it good for the organization as a whole, but not so for some of those within the organization who refuse to adhere to ethical behavior. So be it!
