How do you keep your computer screen from going black when you hook up to your projector?

On most laptops there is a function key to use
1. only your laptop monitor,
2. only the external monitor or
3. both laptop and external monitor
It is usually a function key that makes you cycle through these options; pressing the key once makes you go from 1 to 2, 2 to 3 or 3 to 1, pressing it twice makes you go from 1 to 3, 2 to 1 or 3 to 2 etc.
Please refer to your laptop's user manual.
Another method is to use the "display" or "connect to projector" selection in the control panel.
If you have Windows seven, before connecting the projector:
1. Open up control panel
2. Search connect to a projector
3. Click the blue text saying: "Connect to a projector"
4. Select Duplicate
If you don't have Windows 7 but your provider is Microsoft then
search a bit in Control Panel
