Obviously, the first thing to do is get rid of the cereal (discard it in the outside trash bin - not the one inside). Next, you need to thoroughly check every single package in your cupboards to see if there are any more weevils. If there are, then throw out those packages, too. Then wash the entire inside of the cupboards, and dry well before replacing food.
To keep from being reinfested with weevils, keep all foods such as flour, cornmeal, etc., in the freezer or refrigerator as soon as you bring it home from the store. I prefer the freezer since I know it's cold enough to kill any thay may be in a new bag or package of flour (and because I also prefer baking with very cold flour).
For foods that you can't keep in the freezer or refrigerator, such as cereal, crackers, etc., keep them in tightly sealed containers. Also, keep in mind that weevils do sometimes get in dried herbs and spices, so make sure to check them, as well.
I think you are out of luck on this one. The insects can actually drill into the grains. Separating them may be impossible. If there is any way you can get your money back, do so. You can also report the supplier to local health authorities.
Make sure you have removed the infested grain to an isolated location so the bugs don't spread. Placing the grain in a freezer for several days may help to kill off the insects.
By freezing or boiling
No, it does not.
Weevils are commonly found in rice and grain products. The cannot bite or sting, and they do not carry diseases.
No. It is an urban myth that eating rice will kill birds.
The most common rice plant pests include, but are not limited to: The rice leaf-roller, brown plant-hoppers, rats, panicle rice mites, rice weevils, rice gall midges, stemborers, and rice bugs. As an added note, see the related link below for some really cool pictures of Rice Field Art In Japan:
No, rice will not actually kill live grass. However, rice will deter insects and small rodents from eating your grass.
YES! An adult female weevil will bore a hole in the rice grain, lay an egg inside and seal it. The egg will hatch and moult in the grain. When it becomes a weevil, it will emerge from the grain
Most likely, rice....pretty sneaky
some use it for a pesticide to kill the boll weevils but others use it as cooking oils.=)
Well, you can. Boiling or cooking the food will kill the weevils. If boiling, the weevils will go out with the liquid when you are draining the food. Most people would not want to eat bugs, though.
dog peploe and rice
it eats it.
It is rumored that tossing rice in a ant hill will kill them. This is because the rice would expand inside them once eaten. It can kill some ants, it is best to use specific ant pest removal products to get rid of them.
