Loss of coolant with no apparent leak. White smoke from the exhaust especially at startup. Oil level overfull. Air bubbles escaping from the radiator with the cap off hot. A white foamy substance on the underside of the oil fill cap. All of these are symptoms of a blown head gasket or cracked head.
how tight should we tight the head gasket bolt for a ford f150 Need to know the engine size.
The most common cause is a leaking valve cover gasket. Try tightening the bolts ever so slightly. If that does not cure the leak, and you know for sure the gasket is leaking, then it will have to be replaced.
I would suspect that is a Valve Cover gasket leaking.
You may have a bad head gasket and it may be leaking from that. Why when cold i dont know, but if you are losing coolant it may be the head gasket.
Sounds like a bad head gasket or cracked head problem but we really need to know the year, make, model and engine to help you.
I really don't understand what you are asking. Anti-freeze is leaking because you have a leak. But you already know that. If you are smelling coolant at the exhaust, then STOP driving this vehicle. You have a blown head gasket or a cracked head, or both. Serious engine damage will occur if you continue to drive it. Anti-Freeze smells sweet.
a good indication of blown head gasket is water in the oil. so if you pull oil dipstick the oil will be white and gooy.also oil in radiator is another indication, and collant leaking from area between head and block
How to Troubleshoot Leaking Oil check out related link below
To find wether your car is burning our or leaking it, clean off area around where gasket(seal) should be. If the area is leaking it obveously will no onger be clean. To check if your car is burning oil start the vehicle and if the exuast fumes are black its most likely oil seeping into the cylinder from a damaged gasket or damaged cylinder head or block. To fix buy new head gasket(make sure to get correct model and fit). before attempting to put on that is if you do it yourself. compare the old gasket to the origional. If you get blue smoke its most likely coolant leaking into the cylinder and combusting with the fuel/air mixture.
I don't know which one was at fault but I replaced the head, the head gasket, and the intake manifold gasket.
Either when you see stuff leaking from the engine, or when it fails to pass a compression test. Water in the coolant, coolant in the oil, cylinders filling with water, white smoke from the exhaust or unexplained coolant loss are all indicators that a head gasket has failed.
what are you asking here? PLease be more specific ...like - how do I know if my head gasket is blown, or what do I do about a blown head gasket ......
