Well, I think it'd be rather obvious...first of all, when you turn on the news, there'd be a bunch of "breaking news" stories about how a hurricane has hit your city. Also, there'd be a lot of evactuation warnings and whatnot, and you'd be advised to leave. Weather wise, there'd be lots and lots and lots and lots of rain, VERY strong winds, and flooding from the rain. Depending on the ferocity of the hurricane, the damage can be from just power outages to fallen trees, structures, etc, which can result in other things, such as if a power line fell or split, a fire could start.
But yeah, those are the most general signs...if you feel the need to look here to see if a hurricane has hit your city, I think it's pretty safe to say that it hasn't.
