NO you don't have to be w/ him just because your in that situation if he treats you bad then you don't have to be with him. But if he treats you really well than you should be w/ him.

i would offer it carrots or other treats, personally.You spend time with it. Feed it treats, pet it when it's close enough, groom it when you can. Soon the horse will start to trust you because you are proving that you won't hurt it.
