love is sometimes hard to define. some people see love as simply wanting to be with another person. however, others see it as much more.
I guess the way to know can be very individualized. If you have been with that person a decent amount of time (a couple of months perhaps) you find yourself wanting to be with them and you also accommodate for their needs without as much as flinching, you put them before you, you actually listen to them and not just nod your head, you see a real future with them, not just some fake fantasy, but a real future...perhaps with children, living together.
That can be viewed as love. There is a more desperate kind, but its usually not very healthy.

if you only like someone for looks and nothing else it's lust but if you know them, like their personalities, like their looks then it might just be love (: <3 Answer Lust is purely physical. Love is not. I think when you love someone you can also have lust for them but it is additional to the love and not in place of love.

NO! But it is too young to know the differences between love, lust, and infatuation.
Lust is not love. Lust is for pure pleasure, but only for yourself. It doesn't always have to do with sexual actions.
If this guy disappeared, chances are he didn't love you. If you never actually met this guy, what you're feeling isn't love, it's lust. There's nothing wrong with lust, but don't confuse it with the much greater feeling of love. Lust fades over time. Get to know some other guys who are actually there -- they will be a lot more fun.
lust is when you want something but don't love it
