The IUD should be at the uterine fundus, the deepest part of the uterus. It is not located in the cervix unless it is being expelled.

Can you get pregnant on IUD if you been on it for 3 years?

No. If the IUD is not expelled by chance, it will continue to give you protection by three years. I have seen the ladies, who have inserted the IUD and then forgotten about the same. This may be detected, may be after five years, when you ask a leading question to her.

Can I use tampons if I have an IUD?

You should be fine as long as you are careful not to pull on the IUD strings , which you should not need to worry about too much since the string of a tampon is outside of your vagina, and the strings of your IUD should be inside the vagina up near your cervix. (If you find that your IUD strings are anywhere near your tampon strings, you should see your health care provider because your IUD might be expelled.) What does it mean if you bleed on the Mirena IUD?

Bleeding with Mirena has no special meaning. However, if you're only bleeding after sex with an IUD, it may mean that the IUD is partially expelled or in the wrong place. Contact your health care provider for advice, and consider using an alternate method of birth control until you have determined that it is not expelling.

Is it dangerous if your IUD slipped out?

I think it is, because of the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease, and the possibility of heavier menstrual periods and cramps. IUDs are inserted by the ob/gyn and need to be removed by the ob/gyn. Sometimes, IUDs can be expelled from the body and into the toilet.
