First, there is no one spot for a serial number on a gun. Second, prior to 1968, serial numbers were not required on rifles and shotguns. Determining the age of a given firearm is a matter of experience and having access to references for different makes and models.
On what?? Many firearms before 1968 did not have serial #'s.
If the serial # was 52071F , it would have been mfg'd in 1958. is the 'F' before or after serial number????
Before I would answer your question.I would like you to check your serial number again. The G Prefix to the serial number for the Winchester model 70 started at number G941900 in the year 1969.Is it possable that you misread your serial number? Please recheck and post the serial number again.
before this question can be answered we would need the model number and serial number.
You would have to list the maker, and serial number including any letters before or after to get a answer to your question. Also list the model number.
I would need to know what serial number 134470A goes to,before I could answer your question. Please include the type of firearm you are asking about, along with the model number and serial number so that you may receive a correct answer to your question.
Please check your serial number again and see if there is a serial number prefix such as 69C or 70C etc.which would be before the actual serial number? If this is the case, please include this in your question to get the correct year of manufacturing.
There is no way to tell. First there is no requirement in most of the US for registration of firearms. Where that information DOES exist, as a matter of privacy, YOU do not have access to it (Law enforcement may) and last- a serial number is NOT unique to only one gun- or they would be numbered in the billions, not in the hundred thousands like your number.
You would put the engine serial number under "Equipment Serial Number"
59
Shotguns made in the US before 1968 were not required to have serial numbers. Would have to go with whatever markings are on the gun.
You would need to specify the manufacturer and model of the firearm before the serial number becomes relevant.
