how do i know the master cylinder is bad ?
clamp the line to the slave cylinder and mash the clutch pedal. if the pedal gets hard to push, the slave is bad. if the clutch pedal goes down slowly with moderate pressure, the master cyl is bad clamp the line going to the slave cylinder. meant to say that in the previous answer
They sometimes leak hydraulic fluid down on to the carpet where the peddles are.
One sign is if you place you foot on the brake pedal and apply steady pressure, and the pedal slowing goes down toward the floor, the master cylinder is bad. As this car is 9 years old, when replacing the master cylinder, replace all the brake fluid in the entire system with fresh fluid from an unopened can. 1. It could have a leak at the master cylender. 2. the brake peddle slowly goes all the way to the floor.
After you have located the clutch slave cylinder, have someone depress the clutch pedal. You should see the piston of the slave cylinder extend somewhat. If it does not, either the slave cylinder is bad, or the master cylinder, or, there is not enough brake fluid in the system for it to operate properly. Check the level in the master cylinder. If the slave cylinder is leaking profusely, it is probably bad.
well when you push the pedal completely to the floor and put it in gear on level ground and it starts to engage without lifting your foot off the floor, that's when you know your clutch master cylinder has gone out on you and trust me i know i just replaced it on my little danger ranger about a week ago and its about a 50 dollar part
That depends on where it's leaking out; if it's at the master cylinder, you have a bad master cylinder, if it's at the wheel cylinder you have a bad wheel cylinder if it's at a caliper... well, you get the idea. If you know how to repair a master cylinder, wheel cylinder or caliper, you can often get by with a little savings but it's usually best to just trot down to your local auto parts retailer and get a new or rebuilt one.
The gasket to your clutch master cylinder is probably broken or cracked. or your master cylinder is bad.
Look for leaking fluid at the slave or master cylinder.
Normally you will see moisture, or fluid leaking from the master. Need more help contact me through my board and I will try to help.
If the master cylinder reservoir is empty, you have a leak somewhere. If the master cylinder reservoir is full, the master cylinder is bad.
no it is hydraulic.dont know what your problem is but check clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder operation,if ok may just be a bad clutch
