From your question you have a Chamberlain opener. That's good news. The sensors are like 2 eyeballs that must look at each other unobstructed. This means no cobwebs in the lens or Billy's bike tire within view of these eyes. Now, one side will not light unless they are aligned correctly. try to line them up to see if you can get the light to come on. If the light comes on but is dim or flickering, there is a short in the wire somewhere. pets, rodents garden equipment and little Billy will be the source of your short, usually. If your sensors have gotten wet from hosing out the garage or from the weather then they need to be replaced. You can contact Chamberlain or some stores carry replacement sensors, or you call call a service company, like mine :)
In any case the door will not close without the sensors in place, so they are a must. To replace them is as simple as splice and connect white to white wire and white with black stripe to white with black stripe.
side note:You should always inspect your door on a monthly basis!! Balance(which is a very serious issue) and wearing of all mechanical parts.
I hope this has helped in some way.
Take it to a garage for a wheel alignment. They have the spec's.
Here are some simple steps you can take to see if your garage door motor is still working. First, check to see if the transmitter on the wall inside your garage still opens your garage door when pressed. Second, check your photo eye to make sure it's not out of alignment. Thirdly, if your garage door track is out of alignment, it can be a serious issue.
Garage door sensors use infrared light. The sun also carries infrared light which, you guessed it, is more powerful than the light of the sensors. If the light of the sun surpasses the infrared sensors light, the sensors might not be able to signal one another. This is why a garage door might stop closing if strong sunlight is shining on the eye of a garage door sensor. For more call us at 678-487-2727
The sensor is out of alignment or it 'thinks' something is in the way
Yes! possibly one of the best places to do it as you can hide the cables in the garage.
A second entrance is a very difficult job, and is not recommended. Consult your local handyman to see what he can do for you.
The longest lasting garage doors are those which have screw drives. These are far less prone to failures or to coming out of alignment.
is there a way to bypass the sensors : No, there is no way to bypass the sensors. However they are easy to diagnose. The problem is almost always either: 1) Something in the way. 2) Alignment 3) Not attached stably. 4) The sensor itself. 5) The wiring. Somebody who knows what they are doing can fix any of the above within 5 minutes. Call Door Pros 619 770 0300
check the sensors if the lights arent on then reposition them until the light come on
On average a 2 wheel alignment runs about $50.00. If you get a 4 wheel alignment it will cost you $80.00 to $100.00. I used to work at a car dealer and we charged $130.00 for a 4 wheel alignment. Best advice shop around and make sure you get a warranty because sometimes the mechanic will not adjust the alignment right and you will have to go back.
If you have a garage door that opens and closes electronically, then check the side of your garage closest to the door for sensors that would be on both sides of the door. If the sun is still out, and shining into the sensors, that may be why. To fix this, stand outside your garage, and arrange your shadow over the sensor, then press the button. Your shadow must be over the sensor until it is finished closing, otherwise it will not work. If this doesn't work, it probably needs to be repaired.
Answer the steering wheel will pull to one side or the other when you are driving. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best way to know is to look at the tread wear pattern on the tires. or simple go to a garage and get the alignment checked out.
