A transsexual is someone who is born one physical sex, but is convinced that they should be the other. Some take hormones alone to help them do this. Some of them also have a surgical procedure called "Sex Reassignment Surgery". This is NOT taken lightly by the psychological and psychiatric community, there are standards of care and requirements to be accepted for the surgery. In most of the cases this surgery is not covered by health care so it can cost the patient a LOT of money (10's of thousands to 100's of thousands of dollars.) There are also other surgeries (Facial Feminizing, Adam's apple shaving..) that may be necessary for the patient to feel better about themselves.

A transvestite (or crossdresser) is someone who just enjoys dressing up as the opposite sex without wanting to be the opposite sex. Perhaps this is what you are feeling.

Don't make any assumptions without talking to someone professional who is experienced in dealing with these things; a psychologist or psychiatrist who has actual experience. There are rare cases where someone gets surgery and/or hormones and it is not he panacea they think it will be. As to being Transsexual, to be sure you are or aren't - if you aren't sure, you aren't TS.
