You don't because there aren't any "S" models in the New Cougar years '99 - '02. There was talk of the "S" model and a prototype was made but it never materialized.

What year models will the 1993 mercury cougar exchange parts with?

the '93 cougar can swap parts with any cougar between '89 and '96. Since you have a '93, I'm guessing it's an XR-7 (performance) model, so try to find other XR-7's. You can also interchange parts with the Ford Thunderbird of the same model years.

What are the biggest problems with Mercury Cougars?

I have a mercury cougar and the biggest problem with every one that I have owned are their struts.3.8 Overheat and blow head gasketsANSWEREarly 90's common problems are electrical, normally interior. Otherwise there are generally no mechanical issues unassociated with the owner. If the 3.8 is overheating and blowing head gaskets there is a huge problem with the driver. My Cougar has 300,000 original miles on the engine and transmission.

What was the last year the Mercury Cougar was made?

The Cougar was last produced for the 2002 model year, final production occurred until early summer of 2003 with many of the final vehicles being the special 35th Anniversary Cougar that was being produced throughout the 2002 model year. Though they were last sold for the 2002 model year, the game show, "The Price Is Right!" was known to give away "2003 Mercury Cougar"s as prizes throughout that year. There have been many rumors over the years with different Ford and Lincoln vehicles getting the Cougar name, the latest being the now identified Focus based Tracer, but none have proven true.
