Tricky question...It depends where the gasket has failed..One symtom is steam coming out of the exhaust pipe,,smells like antifreeze..Another ccheck is to remove radiator cap [cool engine]if the level is low top it up,,start the engine watch for bubbles in the antifreeze,, sometimes you can smell exhaust coming out of the rad,,this type of leak will sometimes pressure up the cooling sytem.. If the leak is bad enough it may foul up a spark plug and the engine will run rough..You could check for oil in the antifreeze or vice-versa. Ultimately a leak-down test may be needed.
my car overheated and now i have excessive water coming out the tailpipe of my 97 Nissan altima . is the head gasket blown ?
Other than a leak, a blown head gasket. Very serious, so stop driving until this is repaired if you suspect a blown head gasket. Sounds to me like a cracked head and or a blown head gasket, i had a similar problem but it was on a Saturn
my head gasket was blown and it had water in the oil which made the oil look a milky color
I hate to tell you this but I just paid $3,500 at the Nissan dealer for head gasket replacment.
you will need to rebuild the whole motor. better off getting a used motor at a junkyard and replacing it like I did on my sentra.
No, it will not. This is just a temporary emergency repair. The only way to fix a blown head gasket is to replace it.
If it was removed then YES.
About an 8 hour job.
You may have a blown head gasket. If you have a compression tester available, check compression on all four cylinders andcompare the readings. If adjacent cylinders read lower compression than the other two, it is likely the head gasket is blown.
have a mechanic sheck for a blown head gasket or a craked head
your head gasket is probaly blown.
