What is a thermo control amplifier?
Asked by Wiki User
A thermo control amplifier is a device that regulates temperature by amplifying signals from temperature sensors and adjusting heating or cooling systems accordingly. It is commonly used in HVAC systems and industrial applications to maintain a set temperature range within a space or equipment.
Asked by Wiki User
This fluctuation in temperature gauge readings could be caused by a faulty thermostat, air pockets in the cooling system, a malfunctioning temperature sensor, or a problem with the gauge itself. It's important to have the car inspected by a mechanic to determine the exact issue and prevent any potential overheating problems.

unscrew the screws above the gauge cluster up and behing the steering wheel that connects the vents to the dash.....after gettin the screws out pull on that part and it should pop out eventually (might take some work)u have to disconnect the emergency flashers and rear defrost switches, then take that piece of your dash out (takes time getting it past the steering wheel, but it does come out). Now you will see your gauges and some other wires and crap, theres 4 screws holding the cluster compartment in there take those off and un-do all the wire clusters in the back (should be like 4 or 5 don't remember) now you have your cluster compartment out and u should be able to do the rest.....

How do you remove a broken key in a ignition switch?
Asked by Wiki User
Try going to a hardware store & buying a coping saw blade {it looks like a piece of wire with a spiral cut running down it} cut the end off the blade and with the ignition turned to the place where you would pull the key out, slide the wire of the blade in next to the key and gently slide it out.... the spiral cut in the blade should grab the key and pull it along with the blade.... if that doesn't work you may need to see a locksmith.

What does the crank shaft sensor do?
Asked by Wiki User
The Crankshaft position sensor, or (CKP) monitors the Crankshaft position and No#1 cylinder piston position while the engine is running. this information is sent to the engine's ECM. ( Electronic Control Module) the ECM then uses this information to calculate several operating parameters for engine performance but mostly it is used to operate the engine's Ignition system ( coil (s) and spark plugs). back in the day' you could replace your "points style distributor" for an "Electroinic-Ignition system" very much like todays MSD distributors. many of those used a Cam-sensor which essentially performed the same function. some used a Crank-sensor instead. basically:these sensors tell the ECM when to fire the spark plugs. before that it was all done with a set of "points" inside the distributor. hope this helps
How do you replace the alternator on 2002 Nissan Altima with ac compressor in the way?
Asked by Wiki User
In general, to replace an engine component when another is in the way, you have to remove or move the obstructing component. However, you do not want to disconnect the ac compressor. Unbolt it and move it a little bit. Depending on the vehicle, you should then be able to remove and replace the alternator. If the lines are not flexible, then you may need to disconnect it - in that case you need to evacuate the refrigerant, reseal and purge, and replace the refrigerant - and you need a properly trained and certified mechanic to do that.

How do you know if the starter needs to be replaced on a 1993 Nissan Altima?
Asked by Wiki User
Take the steering column housing off (usually held by 4 screws from the bottom) and remove the starter cap from the back of the ignition cylinder. In a Nissan, the ignition cylinder usually has a T shaped pin which turns the starter. if you can start your vehicle by turning the starter cap with a screw driver, you probably don't have an issue with the starter.
What is an immobilizer system?
Asked by Wiki User
An immobilizer / immobilizer is an electronic device that is fitted to a vehicle to prevent the engine from running unless the correct or authorized user is present. It uses a Driver ID via walk-up or walk away Fob with RFID technology. It also prevents the vehicle from being hotwired after entry has been achieved. It is not a GPS system, but can be integrated with many GPS systems to offer enhanced features.
· Immobilizers became a mandatory requirement for any vehicles entering into Canada in September 2007 (Standard 114). Immobilizers have been mandatory in all new cars sold in Germany since January 1998, United Kingdom in October 1998, Finland in 1998, and Australia since 2001.
· Early models used a static code in the ignition key (or key fob) which was recognized by an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) loop. If the code was unrecognized, the multi circuit immobilizer would disallow ignition to take place. Current models of immobilizers use rolling codes or advanced cryptography to defeat copying of codes.
Many newer vehicles are equipped with immobilizers at the factory. Several kinds of after-market immobilizers are also available. But not all immobilizers are created equal.
The transponder is a radio frequency chip located in the key or key fob. When the chip is near the ignition, it sends a signal that deactivates the immobilizer, allowing the vehicle to start. The vehicle will not start without that signal. That means that when you walk away from your vehicle with the key or key fob, the immobilizer is armed and your vehicle cannot be started.
Some immobilizers house the de-activation system in the steering wheel column. In addition, many iimmobilizers only disable one system in a vehicle, while best in class immobilizers must disable three.
Many factory installed immobilization systems are electronic and function in conjunction with the vehicle computer (PCM/ECM). The electronic and ignition only systems tend to be ineffective against professional car thieves. Best in class 3 circuit systems, when properly installed, act as an effective deterrent to theft.

Why does a 99 Nissan Altima make noise when steering?
Asked by Wiki User
First thing to do is check your power steering fluid level. If it is full, and that does not fix your problems, check all of your power steering lines and make sure there are no kinked/pinched lines. If none of this fixes it then you should have it looked at by your local mechanic. If none of the above strategies fix it, then there is a slight chance that your Pwr Steering pump is bad.

No way we can tell from here. If the engine cranks, it is not the battery. The battery can be good and the engine not crank due to other problems. Sorry, but we really cannot diagnose by remote control.
