If it neeeds to be protable, obviously go for a laptop.
If not, i would recommend desktops, because they are usually easier to upgrade and expand(hard drive, memory, CD/DVD drives, etc.) They also usually perform better than laptops. Desktops are also usually more compatible with things.(Printers, speakers, monitors, etc)
So if it needs to be portable- laptop.
If not- desktop.
You may also want to check out some of Apple's products. They are really good for music and media, they have insane graphics, but not really as customizable unfortunately. And not as free to download apps, they have to come from the App store, but there really is an App for everything. Overall, Apple have some great products. Also Apple have some great laptops. They have really thin and portable ones, or ones that perform really well, or average ones. So you might want to check that out too.
I dont know jor sure but i think you dont
Is there a router that you can plug a laptop modem into so that I can get internet on my desktop also. The desktop would need ethernet and of course the laptop is usb. So is there a router out there that can do this?
Laptop computers can't really substitute for desktop computers, but a good laptop can be a solid and convenient supplement to a desktop model. You will want to know what brand you like.
There is no difference in functionality of laptop and desktop. you can do same work as you can does with your desktop

It depends on the person. A laptop would be good for college because you can take it around with you. A desktop is standard and if you need something to do at school. You would have to use the school desktop computers.
the desktop is the thing that you see when you start your laptop with the icons etc. the laptop is the computer (portable)
The largest difference between any laptop computer and desktop computer is that a laptop is portable and a desktop is not. If you do not require you computer to be portable then a desktop computer is preferable as it will be cheaper to purchase than a laptop of equal specs.
It's a laptop. An iMac is a desktop as well as the Mac mini.
The main screen of laptop where you can see icons like my computer, my documents is desktop
It depends on how it's set up. If the wireless router is connected directly to the service, you should be able to connect the laptop without the desktop being turned on. If the desktop is connecte directly to the service and the router feeds from the desktop... no, you'll need the desktop to be running. No Its Doesn't.You Just Need A Modem To Be Connected To The Desktop Computers Ethernet Port
