I have a daughter that is going to outpatient rehab. She was doing ok for a while and now she is using needles. I don't know what to do with her. Do you have advice as to how to have her put inpatient. My heart is breaking.?
I feel so bad for you and this situation. In order to have her put into inpatient she has to show that she is a danger to herself or to others or she has to voluntarily admit herself. Unfortunately the fact that she is using needles is not what they consider a danger (which I think they should). By danger they mean that she might use a sharp object on herself, hurt herself physically, something along those lines. My suggestion is to perhaps do an intervention. Since she is going to outpatient rehab she must deep down inside realize she has a problem. Talk to someone who counsels at the rehab and see if they will help you do an intervention. Intervention consists of loved ones (family, friends) or anyone who she cares about and vice versa who sit down with her and tell her how what she is going through affects them. Everyone will gently ask her to take the extra step of going into inpatient. No guarantees unfortunately but it can and does work. Contact a counselor at her rehab as soon as possible and
