A warning light on the dash would illuminate.
The battery light is letting you know that the alternator is not charging the battery. Check to see if alternator is any good. Also check to see if belt is hooked up.
Need to know a few things about your olds. What type of Cutlass is it? Engine size? This will make for a better answer for you. Need to know a few things about your olds. What type of Cutlass is it? Engine size? This will make for a better answer for you.
It is important to know the cost of replacing parts or making repairs on a car. For a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue it should cost between $90 and $200 for a person to replace the alternator on their own.
Oldsmobile being one of the oldest car manufacturers in America, I can imagine why you think it would be difficult to find aftermarket parts for your Aurora. However, I came across a whole range of Oldsmobile Aurora aftermarket parts on 1aauto.com while surfing online. They seem to have a large inventory of aftermarket parts for Oldsmobile Aurora on their website. What I like about them is the fact that they are a second generation aftermarket car part dealers, which means they really know the business inside out. I was also impressed to read that they have won the Bizrate Circle of Excellence Award three years in a row.

Look it up on the one installed
Before you try to charge it with a batter charger. take the battery to an autozone or similar to test the batter and see if its still hold a charge. or if you know that the battery is good then jump start it using another car battery with jumper cables. just remember RED to + and Black To -
I've never changed an alternator on that particular car. But, on most cars you just loosen the belt tensioner and take off the belt. (Make sure you know how your belt is routed.) Then, undo the electrical connections to the alternator. Next, take off the alternator bolts. Last, do everything in reverse to install your new alternator. Hope that helps. Easiest way i know of is to take the alternator bolt off and the belt will fall of then re line the belt and put the alternator back on using a pry bar against the strut mounts or have a friend pull it into place while you slide the bolt in
I know that. I need to kn ow where the high side port is located. The instuctions do not show that. Buy a kit at Wal-Mart or auto parts comes with instructions
It's on the passenger side at the bottom. Just follow the serpentine belt to the bottom-- if you know what you're looking for you'll see it, but Good Luck replacing it!
If you don't know how to remove the rear pads on your aurora you have no business trying. It is the same as the front but when you push the piston back in on the caliper, you have to have a special tool that spins the piston in! (Thank you finally an educated answer.. i have been up and down this list correcting these peoples answers. good job)
